Your first step in every Zero-Energy Building Program
Creative Energy Solutions, as our name suggests, has created a creative energy solution in that have adapted a time-tested alternative financing program to solve the needs of our clients.
In essence, we have created a financial instrument that satisfies the needs of both parties based on the calculated and observed energy savings and associated costs related to those savings. This system is similar to that pioneered and developed by the Sun Edison Corporation($42B) in the mid 2000's PPA programs. It is a now common practice in the renewable and energy efficiency verticals. Sun Edison has through this financing service, offered commercial and residential customers the opportunity to install a solar system for no upfront costs, with predictable cost-effective energy rates over the life of the system contract. This program has fueled the explosion of renewable energy and efficiency technologies in the largest growth segment in the US economy.
The Creative Energy Solutions power efficiency agreement (PEA) is a legal contract between an electricity efficiency provider and a power purchaser (buyer of electricity). Contractual terms may last anywhere between 3 and 10 years, during which time the power purchaser buys energy, and sometimes also capacity and/or ancillary services, from the electricity utility. Such agreements play a key role in the financing of independently owned electricity consuming assets. The energy saving entity under the PEA is typically an independent electrical power consumer, or "IEPC".
The PEA defines all the commercial terms for the reduction of electricity costs between the two parties, including when the project will begin commercial operation, schedule for delivery of electrical savings, penalties for under delivery, payment terms, and termination.
A PEA is the principal agreement that defines the revenue and credit quality of the energy efficiency and cost reducing project and is thus a key instrument of project finance.
The PEA has evolved as practical financial tool that enables businesses, schools, and governments to purchase less electricity directly from the utility. The project costs are paid for from the calculated and actual energy reduction difference provided by the efficiency company (CES) and the historical utility bill amounts that have been paid by the energy consumer.
CES contracts with dozens of financial entities that have used these financial tools to build massive portfolios.
Included in the project financing calculations are installation costs, product costs, monitoring costs, administrative costs as well as interest costs charged by the finance provider.
Included in the cost savings calculations are the immediate reduction in kWhs created by the efficiency as well as the number of running cycles to maintain preferred cooling profiles. The reduction in "peak" utility charges, the reduction in distribution and associate taxes and fees in base charges including the extension of equipment life cycles. Finally, the reduction of compressor maintenance costs as well as replacement costs.
The additional benefits of this financial arrangement to the energy saving entity are the rights to claim all rebates tax and energy credits associated with the energy reduction programs that are available from local, state and national incentives.
Measurement and calculation of saving is a very straightforward and practical exercise. Client will select a representative piece of equipment to act as an example for their entire cooling equipment portfolio. A professional certified and accredited installation company will measure with a simple amp meter the current running amp required to operate the selected piece of equipment. Then after the product is installed in the same equipment a running amp measurement will be taken after 45 minutes, and then again after 10 days to create an energy saving profile. The ten-day measurement will be the mutually agreed upon energy reduction associated with the application of the product.
This number will be calculated as a percentage of the total energy requirement and then introduced into the calculations and projected as a constant savings percent in the financial document. An additional measurement will be conducted each quarter of each year of the length of the contract and the numbers will be appropriately adjusted.
Per the agreement the client shall be required to pay the finance company the agreed upon amounts for the length of the agreement. To optimize the achieved savings, the finance company shall be entitled to a larger percentage of the total savings until the installation costs are recovered (typically under one year) and then the energy saving entity will be entitled to the larger percentage of savings for the length of the agreed upon term.
This financial program creates a no-cost and no-risk opportunity to the energy saving client.
Most of the HVAC equipment in use today is out of the warranty period provided by the manufacturer. If the manufacturer’s warranty is still in effect, there are several ways to address the warranty issue.
Solid Start, Inc., the manufacturer of Cold-Plus®, has effectively eliminated the risk factor by combining a corporate guarantee with product liability insurance through an AM Best A++ rated insurance company, the highest rating given.
The customer is named as “Additional Insured” on the insurance certificate.
We have replaced the manufacturer’s short term interim protection with long term protection for the life of the compressor against damages directly attributable Cold-Plus®.
Please ask your Cold-Plus® representative for details and/or review the Warranty section found on this website.
1) Shake the container vigorously until all settled nano-particles are suspended in the fluid.
2) Cold Plus is always installed in the low pressure port.
3) R-22 units receive 1.5 ounces per ton.
4) 410-A units receive 1.1 ounces per ton
.
5) Each installation is done with the unit running. The unit should continue to run for an additional 45 minutes to insure the product is integrated in the system.
6) For units over 25 tons please call before treatment. In some instances, certain makes and models may require some fluid removal before treatment.
7) Because of the higher pressure associated with 410-A units, it is always better to treat earlier in the day before it gets hot [makes for a way easier installation].
8) If a complete jug of Cold Plus is not used at one time, cover the remainder with a shot of nitrogen.
9) When not in use, store full and partially full jugs of Cold Plus in a temperature-controlled setting of 75 degrees.
10) To document the improved efficiency of a treated unit, record the amp meter reading prior to installation, and then again in 5 days to see the reduction in amp usage.
We believe in the famous words of Zig Ziegler: “You can’t expect, what you can’t inspect”. So, we have designed a foolproof method to track energy savings in your cooling equipment. And one way we do this is with our strategic relationship with Echo Labs. They are a world-class and industry leading energy monitoring company. Their energy monitoring technology was developed out of old Bell Labs and now Verizon Communications and are considered the industry standard. They are experts at monitoring a variety of energy profiles utilizing cloud-based technologies. They have installed utility grade monitors for most Energy Service Companies and Energy Providers in the US and abroad. With them, we have developed a remote amp sensor monitoring system that can easily be installed with every unit that Cold-Plus™ is implemented in. These non-invasive sensors allow us to gather the energy consumption data of our units in real-time and provide our customers with a new and valuable data-stream. Our customers have the option to view their data in our customer portal and sensor management system, or access it via API. The sensors are low-energy and operate on their own cellular Verizon connection so that system security is maximized, and precious bandwidth is not taken from our customers.
So, not only do we we have a proven product but a proven way to measure how much you will save now and into the future.
Measuring energy is simple:
KwH = Volts x Amps x Time
Some other technologies use toxic and corrosive cleaning agents. Over time, oil fouling returns and the system again becomes less efficient.
The patent pending Cold-Plus® formula changes this by providing a permanent solution, fusing PTFE into all metal surfaces, thereby coating all interior metal parts of the system with “the slickest solid substance known to man”.

Cold Plus is effective for the “system life”. But we do not know how long it will last. Our oldest customer has a unit that is 19 years old and it is still operating and saving energy.
So the answer is: "Are you willing to find out for yourself?"
For a more complete explanation please watch the videos located on this website.
That is a great question to ask your manufacturer.
Cold -Plus has been tested by the engineers at Lennox, Trane and Carrier with remarkable energy lowering results.
Why would they endorse a product that extends the life of their equipment and reduces maintenance costs?
Simply stated , it is because they are in the equipment selling business and not the equipment running business. Just ask them!
